A MEETING OF WORDS
In a time where we are overwhelmed with information, it does feel opportune to discuss the importance of immersing ourselves in pivotal and trusted books, which have the potential to open our eyes as readers. A key inspiration for this project was to show these ancestral ties to world narratives.
all an awareness of our impermanence, and an attempt to fill people with wonder that underpins the creative journey.
This feeling… of alertness to the inner-spirit of things — this humming — is triggered by these books and intern feeds the creative spirit. It isalso an understanding of the value of silence, and where reading and encountering ideas feeds our agency.
A key inspiration for the project was to show the value in rethinking the value of design as a tool for political and cultural dialogue and not merely a deliverer of commercial products. Moreover, these books featured here are signposts to who we are, and I feel that we should be securing, and encouraging, their accessibility so that they are available to all. It is afterall an awareness of our impermanence, and an attempt to fill people with wonder that underpins the creative journey.
The project’s aim was to elevate the power of the written word through a series of typographic posters and a limited-edition book, focusing on the appreciation and value of not only the book’s content but as a printed artifact.
